Buca Bay Always Nice!

Two days ago, I received a phone call from home about the latest happenings on the island. My enthusiastic sounding Dad, was excited to inform me of celebrations going down in Buca Village, Buca Bay. The village is in festivity mode because of a great blessing that has been bestowed upon the village.

For the last two decades, I have witnessed numerous amounts of committee meetings at home, regarding the building of a Hydro-dam in Buca. Meetings have been followed by fundraisers, and efforts to acquire government assistance for the project. However, due to the political instability in the country, there hasn't been a government of the day that has taken on the villagers plight. And now finally, after a bit of hard work and sacrifice, the prayers of the village has been answered.

Thanks to the assistance of the Turkish government, Buca Village will be piloting a 1.2 million dollar Hydro-dam project that will source electricity to 80 homes. Last week, my Dad took a trip to the village to welcome the Turkish Engineers and check on the workforce that has been working tirelessly on building roads to the site. He uploaded pictures to his facebook and it brought me great joy to see the dreams of the village coming into fruition. Click here for pictures!

The moral of the story is that it all begins with a dream. When we envision an idea that will work towards the greater good of many, we are birthing a journey that bears a great calling. For the village of Buca, it took determination to see the project pull-through despite the many occasions that doubt deemed their dreams impossible. Congratulations to the people of Buca and the hardworking Committee members!
